if you're looking for a new tire for your car, chances are you're either looking for an all season or an all terrain tire. If you have a heavy duty SUV, an all terrain tire might be a good choice.

An all-season tire, by comparison, typically has shallow grooves with tight gaps. These do a good job of pushing away water when it’s raining, allowing the rubber to grip the road. All tires will lose grip if grooves fill up with mud and snow but All-Terrain tires tend to clean themselves out better and quicker than All season tires. 

All-terrain tires have the advantage off-road but All Seasons do better on highways, making them more fuel-efficient than the rugged All Terrains. 

All-terrain tires also have stronger, thicker sidewalls that flex on rough, uneven roads. Some are reinforced with a stronger material for increased resistance to punctures.
